sciFLEXARRAYER Precision Dispensers
Enabling miniaturized multiplex assays for diagnostics and other fields of life sciences
sciFLEXARRAYER is a range of high-precision, non-contact dispensing systems designed for the accurate spotting of liquids from 10 pL to 5,000 nL. Widely used in diagnostics and life sciences, these platforms enable the development and manufacturing of biochips, biosensors, and other analytical tools, delivering exceptional reproducibility with minimal sample waste.
The sciFLEXARRAYER family includes the S3 (entry-level R&D system), S12 (medium-scale batch system), SX (high-throughput batch system), and S100 (customizable, ultra high-throughput system). All models share the same core technology based on Piezo-driven, non-contact microdispensing capillaries (PDCs), enabling accurate and reproducible spotting of a broad range of liquids on various substrates.

NON-CONTACT DISPENSING
Unlike traditional contact spotting methods, non-contact dispensing delivers precise droplets without ever touching the substrate. This eliminates mechanical stress, prevents contamination, and enables accurate deposition into even the smallest cavities.
sciFLEXARRAYERs all offer:
- Vision-controlled precision – Drop volume continuously monitored and adjusted through a proprietary vision-based algorithm.
- Surface protection – No damage to sensitive substrates.
- Homogeneous spot morphology – Consistent spot quality across arrays.
- Miniaturization – Enables dispensing into micro- and nano-scale cavities.
SCIENION offers two different non-contact dispensing technologies: sciDROP PICO and sciDROP NANO which can be used on all sciFLEXARRAYER devices.
sciDROP PICO
Built on piezo-driven pulses applied to inert glass capillaries, sciDROP PICO ensures gentle and reliable liquid handling across a wide range of applications, from assay development to cell dispensing. Multiple capillary types (PDC60, -70, -80, -90, -100) cover different volume ranges, while tailored surface coatings optimize performance for specific liquid properties.
It ensures:
- Unrivaled precision – exact drop volume control with integrated visual detection
- Gentle handling – no shear stress, preserving sample integrity
- No satellite droplets – complete control of ejection parameters
- No additives needed – glycerol-free operation avoids interfering substances
- Low dead volume – maximal use of precious samples
sciDROP PICO is compatible with all sciFLEXARRAYER scales.
sciDROP NANO
Built on electromagnetic micro-valve technology, sciDROP NANO bridges the gap between nanoliter and microliter dispensing. It offers robust performance across a wide range of liquid types, from aqueous buffers to viscous or low-surface-tension solutions, making it ideal for bulk spotting and high-throughput applications. Ceramic tips ensure long-term stability and reproducibility.
It delivers:
- Flexible volumes – from 50 nL to 5 µL per drop
- Broad liquid compatibility – handles challenging viscosities and solvents
- Consistent accuracy – CV typically < 2%
- Versatile modes – spot-on-the-fly, line printing, predefined patterns
