Tailored Precision, Engineered for Your Workflow.
Every assay, substrate, and process is unique, and so are your requirements. Through SCIENION and Cellenion Custom Solutions, we design, adapt, and integrate precision dispensing technologies around your application. Whether you need a modified instrument, custom holders for specialized targets, additional dispensing channels, or full in-line automation, our engineering team transforms your specifications into validated, production-ready systems.
From early feasibility to industrial integration, our approach combines deep understanding of microdispensing, single-cell automation, and 3D biology. Each project is defined by User Requirement Specifications (URS) and validated through Factory (FAT) and Site (SAT) Acceptance Tests, ensuring that every delivered system performs exactly as intended: reproducibly, traceably, and efficiently.
With over 20 years of engineering experience and ISO 9001-certified facilities, we help partners across diagnostics, life sciences, and biopharma turn complex ideas into robust, automated solutions. From sciFLEXARRAYER S100 for in-line microdispensing, to cellenONE HT for high-throughput single-cell workflows, and spheroONE for 3D model automation, every custom project incorporates the same high level of precision, scalability, and collaboration.

WHAT CAN WE CUSTOMIZE?

Automation & Integration
Robotics, conveyors, incubators, biosafety cabinets etc. are integrated through scheduling APIs (e.g. BIOSERO’s Green Button Go™), for seamless communication with LIMS / MES systems, bringing our dispensing technology into your automation ecosystem.

Hardware Customization
Dispensing Architecture
Configure the number and type of dispense channels, integrate dedicated reagent racks, or adopt the Demonstrator concept, a conveyor-based source system allowing up to 25 reagents per run.

Traceability & Quality Control
Integration barcode or RFID tracking, QC imaging and analysis, humidity and temperature control, and inline vision: master consistent environmental conditions and full traceability across runs.

Software customization and task logic

THE DEMONSTRATOR: INNOVATION IN DESIGN
The Challenge
One of our Big Pharma customers, manufacturing complex multi-assay IVD tests, needed to manufacture and handle more reagents in a single automated cycle without increasing footprint or setup time.
The Solution
We developed the Demonstrator platform, where reagent sources move on a conveyor under stationary PDCs, and each PDC can be individually controlled and moved, enabling up to 25 reagents per run with consistent aspiration/dispense cycles.
The Outcome
Greater flexibility and faster batch setup. The concept proves scalable reagent multiplexing within compact systems, a prototype architecture for future high-throughput diagnostic production.

THE CUSTOM SOLUTION PROCESS
Every custom project follows a structured, transparent workflow that ensures technical feasibility, clear specifications, and reliable delivery. From the first discussion to final acceptance, your Commercial Project Manager coordinates communication between your team and our engineers to keep the project on scope and on schedule.
- We start with an initial discovery call, where objectives and constraints are defined.
- A short feasibility and risk assessment then confirms technical compatibility and identifies potential risks or adaptations. Together, we draft detailed User Requirement Specifications (URS), the foundation of every custom build, and define the corresponding Factory and Site Acceptance Tests (FAT/SAT) that will prove the system performs exactly as expected.
- Once the URS is agreed by both parties, this will be used as the basis for an official quotation including project timeline.
- The project is then handed to a Development Project Manager, who oversees design, engineering, and internal testing under ISO 9001 procedures.
- After successful validation, the system is tested against the CAT during final acceptance, followed by delivery, training, and ongoing support.

FROM PROCESS TO PARTNERSHIP IN IVD TEST MANUFACTURING
The Challenge
Jabil Healthcare sought to automate the deposition of diagnostic reagents inside microfluidic cartridges, ensuring picoliter accuracy, environmental stability, and complete process traceability, all within an industrial-scale cleanroom environment.
The Solution
Working through our Custom Solutions process, built on communication, traceability, and quality control, our engineers designed and integrated a tailored sciFLEXARRAYER S100 line. The configuration included humidity and temperature control, reel-to-reel operation, robotic handling, RFID tracking, and inline optical QC to guarantee droplet uniformity and batch documentation.
The Outcome
The result was a validated and fully traceable manufacturing line capable of producing high-quality diagnostic cartridges with exceptional reproducibility and yield. It has opened the door to broaden precision medicine applications, securing Jabil’s position as a leader in diagnostics solution production.

High-Throughput Single-Cell Automation for Cell Line Development
The Challenge
A global biopharmaceutical automation team sought to eliminate manual steps in cell line development (CLD) while improving throughput and traceability, in an advanced bioprocess lab.
They needed to link the cellenONE HT with existing robotics, incubators, and liquid handlers to enable continuous, unattended operation for large-scale clone generation.
The Solution
Our engineers adapted the cellenONE HT platform for seamless integration with external automation via Biosero Green Button Go™.
The system was configured with robotic plate handling, temperature and humidity control, and synchronized task scheduling, creating a fully walk-away workflow for automated isolation, dispensing, and tracking of single cells.
The Outcome
The resulting installation achieved overnight runs preparing up to 12 000 clones per cycle, delivering a 10- to 100-fold increase in throughput compared with conventional methods.
The integrated environment maintained excellent cell viability and consistent outgrowth, enabling end-to-end automation for stable cell line development.
