Scienion Extends its Drop-On-Demand Product Portfolio: sciFLEXARRAYER S3 Is a Versatile Tool for R&D and the Production of High Quality Arrays

With its sciFLEXARRAYER S3 Scienion AG has launched another model of its prize winning dispensing systems for ultra-low volume liquid handling. The piezo-driven system for non-contact dispensing was particularly developed as an economical entry for academic and R&D labs.

Dortmund and Berlin, Germany, April 10, 2007: Dr. Holger Eickhoff, CEO of Scienion AG, explains: "With the sciFLEXARRAYER S3 we wanted to make our benchmark technology affordable for academic budgets. This new S3 model is based on the same drop-on-demand technology as the higher throughput systems S5 and S11 offering all proven advantages of the sciFLEXARRAYER line."

The sciFLEXARRAYER S3 is specifically designed as a versatile tool for a variety of applications in genome and proteome research including non-contact arraying of DNA and proteins, biosensor loading, the production of cell transfection arrays and the preparation of MALDI targets. The system is engineered robustly to handle the most delicate substrates in volumes from 100 picoliters up to several microliters. A user-friendly state-of-the-art software allows for a flexible and convenient design of chip layout and for programming of individual spotting routines by users new to microarraying. The sciFLEXARRAYER S3 will be presented at the Society for Biomolecular Sciences (SBS) 13th Annual Conference and Exhibition, booth #420, April 15-19, 2007 in Montreal, Canada.
About Scienion

SCIENION AG is a life science company offering complete solutions in the field of parallel bioanalytics. Customers include pharma and biotech companies as well as academic research institutions. Founded in December 2000 in Berlin as a spin-off of the Max-Planck-Institute for Molecular Genetics, the company today operates from two sites, Dortmund and Berlin. From the start, Scienion focused on biochip platform technologies. With the successful launch of the sciFLEXARRAYER dispensing system in 2003 the company focus switched to hardware. The sciFLEXARRAYER allows the aspiration of ultra-low liquid volumes from different reservoirs and contact-free micro drop delivery in the picoliter range onto a variety of carriers. Today, Scienion represents a complete solution providing company, well positioned in the field of ultra-low volume liquid handling systems including applications in genomics, proteomics and high throughput screening.
